Slipline of an existing 8’ x 10’ box culvert with metal tunnel liner plate and cellular grouting of the annular space, as well as a new 60” new tunnel installed via guided pipe ram through ground conditions involving cobbles and boulders as well as loose fill and coarse alluvium. The project took place in a remote area of Colorado with no local utilities available. UIT performed as General Contractor on this project, performing both slipline and tunneling scopes. In addition to the installation, UIT performed instrumentation and monitoring of the road surface and embankments and adjacent to the liner plate installed a small mouse passage tunnel using angle iron to protect the native species in the area.
